Seven Centreville Residents Named to VT's Marching Virginians

Students include Lee Seidner, Tommy Polson, Carolyn Korch, Sarah DeVito, Chelsea Croll, Sung Cho and Chelsea Black.

Seven Centreville residents have been named to Virginia Tech's Marching Virginians band.

The students are:

  • Lee Seidner, senior music major, College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences
  • Tommy Polson, senior economics major, the Pamplin College of Business
  • Carolyn Korch, junior hospitality and tourism management major, the Pamplin College of Business
  • Sarah DeVito, junior mathematics major, the College of Science
  • Chelsea Croll, junior management and Spanish major in the Pamplin College of Business and College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences
  • Sung Cho, freshman architecture major in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies
  • Chelsea Black, fifth year student majoring in chemical engineering and mathematics in the College of Engineering and College of Science

Commonly known as The Spirit of Tech, The Marching Virginians celebrate their 38th anniversary season with entertaining performances and lively music to support the Hokies during the 2011-2012 football season. Under the direction of David McKee and Polly Middleton, the band will feature music of America throughout the season, in addition to music of the Jackson 5, the Beatles, and others.

Founded in 1974, The Marching Virginians have performed for hundreds of football games and parades. The band has also received numerous compliments for outstanding performances at Virginia Tech’s recent bowl games including the 2010 Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta, Ga. and the 2008, 2009 and 2011 Orange Bowls in south Florida.
