During the Colonial League divisional meets, held throughout Northern Virginia Saturday, there were a number of outstanding personal performances in the Blue Division by swimmers battling to qualify for All-Star status. Qualification earned them the right to swim in the league-wide All-Star Meet.
Sequoia Farms swimmers who qualified for All-Star participation are: Lucy Blazquez, Kate Croxton, Brice Harris, John Bounds, Sydney Fish, Kristen Blee, Diane Sellars, Kelsey Hamer, Jessie Heise, Brooke Feichtl, Julia Barrett, Travis Blee, Caroline Santilli, Sean Bartro, Lauren Chin, Georgia Cerisano, Will Steinhilber, Connor Croxton, Avery Harris.
There were some performances in which went beyond the purpose of choosing All-Star contenders. For Sequoia Farms, these performances will play a part in re-writing the Stingray record books and in decorating the team’s trophy cabinet.
The Stingray trophy cabinet will have a little less room by the end of the day, when it is fitted with the award for the winning boys, blue division,15-18, age group champions. This group is comprised of John Bounds, Brian Chapman, Matt Cohen, Blake Feichtl, Danny Flannery, Brian Murphy, Conner Murphy, Chris O’Brien, Carlo Paraggio and Will Steinhilber. Four of these guys also hold the team record for the 15-18, 200M Medley Relay (see above).
Brooke Feichtl continues to break her own 15-18 Butterfly record as she has done again at this Divisional contest. Finally, with an outstanding effort in the girls backstroke (for 13-14 year olds), Jessie Heise broke a team record which had stood in the record books for ten years.
