Explosion Investigation Still Ongoing
Brookfield residents continue to be concerned about the safety of their homes.

Emotions were running high at the Brookfield Civic Association (BCA) meeting on Thursday night at Brookfield Elementary School, which was held to discuss the that occurred on Dec. 19.
Larry Leeds, BCA President, began the meeting by presenting the Nguyen family, who was displaced by the explosion, with a check for $2,820. The funds were donated by neighbors and local businesses.
“All we can say is thank you so much for your help,” said Mr. Nguyen.

After a series of remarks by representatives from the Fairfax County Fire Department and Washington Gas, residents were told that the investigation is still ongoing.
Steve Price, Division Head of Operations at Washington Gas, said that he was not able to provide a definitive cause to the explosion. Price fielded questions from the community members, and he assured them that the company will continue to investigate the cause.
