Local Dancers Receive Terri and Shari Malone Foundation Scholarships

Dancers receive recognition for dance and academic excellence

Creative Dance Center is pleased to announce that two students have had the esteemed honor of being recognized by the Terri and Sherri Malone Foundation for their artistic talents in the field of Dance in combination with their outstanding academic achievements. CDC Competition Team Members, Brianna Crump and Brooke Weismiller, received recognition plaques and $250 in scholarships each at a formal ceremony held Sunday, September 15th, 2013 at Smarts Mill Middle School, Leesburg, Virginia. Both dancers performed at the ceremony; Brianna performed “I’m Amazed,” choreographed by Margaret and Nicole Otto, and Brooke performed “Your Song” choreographed by Jamie Frye and Staci Frye.

Former JL Simpson Middle School and current Loudoun County High School student, Brianna Crump has been dancing for 5 years with Creative Dance Center. She performed for two seasons with CDC’s Performing Troupe and three seasons with CDC Competition Team. Brianna plans to perform at the university level on a university dance team and will use her scholarship to offset dance tuition. Brianna said, “I am grateful that the foundation recognized me for something I love to do. I think it’s great that they keep the memory of Teri and Shari alive this way.”

Former Mercer Middle School and current John Champe High School student, Brooke has been dancing with Creative Dance Center Competition Team for 11 years. Brooke applied in hopes of receiving recognition for her passion for dance and will use the scholarship to further her dance education. Brooke said, “It is a privilege and honor to be recognized with other Loudoun County students who excel in the arts, dance, math and/or sciences.”
