- Pasadena Villa Outpatient is opening a new mental health treatment facility in Chantilly, marking the provider's fourth location in Virginia. With over 1.1 million adults in Virginia suffering from mental health conditions, and over 380,000 not receiving treatment, the new facility aims to address the high demand for mental health treatment providers in the state. Odyssey CEO Richard Clark said the new clinic in Chantilly will help individuals and families in need take the next step toward lasting recovery. (Augusta Free Press)
- Officials in Northern Virginia have launched an earthquake relief effort to help the people of Turkey following the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit parts of Turkey and Syria on Feb. 6. According to Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeff McKay, the death toll has now reached about 51,000, with over 180,000 people injured by the earthquake and aftershocks. The Northern Virginia Regional Commission has partnered with Embrace Relief to raise funds to buy food packages for those impacted by the disaster. (Patch)
- Sandy Anderson has announced her candidacy for the Fairfax County School Board as the representative for the Springfield District, which includes Chantilly High School. Anderson, who is a longtime resident of the Springfield District, is focusing her campaign on promoting STEAM education as well as securing adequate funding for Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). "My experience as an FCPS student, current FCPS mom, PTO leader, military spouse, and a higher-ed educator make me uniquely qualified to represent and serve the families of the Springfield District," said Anderson in a statement issued Friday. "This is my hometown, and I am ready to serve." (Patch)
