Soaring Temperatures Bring Heat Advisory

The forecast calls for a hot and sunny day, around 98 degrees.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory for Wednesday, effective from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. 

The National Weather Service predicts a high of 97 degrees Wednesday in Chantilly. After 3 p.m. there is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms. That chance raises to 50 percent later Wednesday night.

The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will make heat illnesses possible. The NWS advises drinking lots of fluids and staying out of the sun. Elderly relatives and neighbors should be checked on. To read summer safety tips for pets, .

Due to the high temperatures, the Fairfax Connector system will allow riders to drink water on board buses Wednesday. 

Thursday will be slightly cooler. There is an expected high of 91 degrees and low of 71 degrees.
