A company has stepped in to make a $10,000 tuition payment for a local family, after hearing about the theft of a purse containing their hard-earned money from a local donut shop in January.
Maria Candida Esteves, 51, had saved the cash for her teen daughter's college tuition, by cleaning homes for the past 25 years. They were on their way to Penn State that day and had made a stop at the donut shop, a Sunday family tradition. >>> Read more.

Two New Cases of Zika Virus Reported This Week in Virginia
Two new cases of the Zika virus were reported in Virginia this week by recent travelers to Zika-prone areas, according to the Virginia Department of Health. Zika is mainly spread by mosquitoes, but that kind of transmission has not yet been seen in the U.S. mainland.
That brings the total number of Zika virus cases to 15 reported in the Commonwealth as of Thursday, May 12. The health department doesn't give any details of the cases, to protect privacy.
