Everything Beagle With Cream Cheese Event To Feature Dogs Saved From VA Breeding Facility
Homeward Trails Animal Rescue will have more than a dozen beagles saved from a Virginia breeding facility available for adoption on Sunday.

FAIRFAX STATION, VA — More than a dozen beagles saved from a life of confinement will be arriving Tuesday at the Homeward Trails Animal Rescue's adoption center in Fairfax Station .
The beagles were rescued from Enviro, a Cumberland-based breeding company that raises dogs to be sold to research companies in the U.S. and abroad. The breeder has been under scrutiny ever since U.S. Department of Agriculture inspectors noted multiple violations at the facility in 2017 and a People for Ethical Treatment of Animals investigation exposed the suffering of dogs there.
Homeward Trails signed an agreement in January to find homes for more than 400 beagles that were part of a surplus of dogs during the pandemic that were no longer for sale.

“While certainly a monumental task, this is not something I had to think about for more than a second before agreeing," said Sue Bell, Homeward Trail's founder and executive director, in a release. It is truly an honor to be able to give these dogs the lives they deserve."
Homeward Trails has been able to move nearly 300 beagles so far, thanks to partnerships with other rescues and shelter in Virginia and across the U.S.

“While I would love nothing more than to have 400 beagles at our shelter, that is obviously not possible," Bell said, in a release. "We have been lucky to have the amazing support of groups like the Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary in Wyoming, Priceless Pet Rescue in California, the Richmond SCPA and other Virginia groups stepping up to take these dogs in."
Homeward Trails is hosting an Everything Beagle with Cream Cheese Event, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Sunday, at its adoption center, which is located at 11116 Fairfax Station Road in Fairfax Station. The event will feature more than a dozen beagles rescued from Enviro that are available for adoption. Potential adopters must register online ahead of time in order to be reapproved. Visitors can also enjoy free bagels and coffee.
