  1. A Burke mother of three has announced her candidacy for one of the open Fairfax county School Board seats. Saundra Davis is planning a formal launch of her campaign for one of the three at-large seats in her hometown at Burke Lake Park on Mar. 26 at 1:00 p.m. Davis, who disagreed with how the school system handled remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, said, "Groups of decision makers cannot function properly without diversity of thought or by locking alternative points of view out of the conversation."   2. On Mar. 3, elected leaders and officials in Northern Virginia launched a fundraising effort to help those suffering from the aftermath of the earthquakes in Türkiye. Organized by the Northern Virginia Regional Commission, the fundraising efforts will go towards purchasing food packages for those in need. The Fairfax County Government said the goal is to raise $25,000. Donations can be made here. (Fairfax County Government)
  3. March is Women's History Month and Fairfax County is celebrating with events all month long. On Mar. 12, you can join the Women of Walney Walking Tour at Ellanor C.
