Virginia Lodge Motel Barricade: Man Escapes, Search Underway
Authorities are searching for a man who escaped from a barricade at a Belle Haven motel.
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Fairfax County Police are searching for a man who escaped a barricade situation at Virginia Lodge Motel in Belle Haven Saturday.
The barricade situation started when police went to serve an arrest warrant in the 6000 block of Richmond Highway. The man, Alton Thodos, 32, made threats against himself when police tried to enter his motel room, police say.
When a woman who was in his room left, officers had a chance to get in the room. By then, Thodos had crawled into the attic through the ceiling and escaped through another part of the building, according to police. The escape happened before officers secured the entire perimeter. Surveillance footage confirmed his escape.

Thodos is wanted for active warrants on grand larceny, credit card theft, credit card fraud and a probation violation.
Police are asking for information on his whereabouts as the search continues. He is described as 6 foot 1, 175 pounds, with a beard and wearing a red hat and a white shirt. Police believe he is driving a silver 2013 BMW X1 with Virginia tags UZE-8869.
