Chopper, K9 Track Suspect in Tuesday Morning Shooting: Police

Police say a man was shot Tuesday morning while being chased in the Mount Vernon area.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Fairfax County Police deployed the Fairfax 1 helicopter and K9 to track down a shooting suspect Tuesday morning in the Mount Vernon area, police said Wednesday.

The incident began Tuesday at about 11:23 a.m. in the 3800 block of Miramonte Place, where police responded to a call for one man chasing another and shooting at him with a handgun, according to police. Officers, including K9 and Fairfax 1, saturated the area. The victim was eventually located nearby.

The victim reported to police that a bullet had grazed his leg. He was treated at the scene by Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel. The investigation led officers to believe that the suspect and victim are known to each other and that an argument led to the shooting, police said. The investigation continues and charges are likely, according to police.
