Arrest Made In Lincolnia Shooting: Police
Police are investigating a shooting at a Lincolnia restaurant on the night of New Year's Day.

LINCOLNIA, VA — Police have made an arrest in the New Year's Day shooting at a Mexican restaurant, according to a release from the Fairfax County Police Department. Edwin Lopez Rivas, 35, of Alexandria, was found near the scene, police say.
Police responded to the Viva Tequila Restaurant at 6244-C Little River Tpk. around 9:30 Wednesday on a report of a shooting. They found a man in the bathroom with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The victim, an adult male, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

Rivas was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Anybody with information on the shooting is asked to call the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, using option four. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Solvers or by texting "TIP187" plus your message to the number CRIMES (274637). Anonymous tipsters can get between $100 to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Police said they believed the shooting was not a random act of violence, and said there was no ongoing threat to public safety.
