Moms Talk: Did 'Glee' Go Too Far?

Weigh in on the latest Glee controversy

Each week in Moms Talk, our local council of been-there-done-that moms debate issues, give advice and share solutions to common parenting dilemmas.  So grab a cup of coffee and settle in as we start the conversation today with a question sparked by a recent television show.

Tuesday night's episode of Glee reignited a debate among parent activists and media organizations about what is appropriate content for young audiences. The episode "Sexy" centered on a sex education class taught by a substitute teacher (played by Gwenyth Paltrow). The episode featured sexual dancing and songs, provocative demonstrations and talk about making a sex tape.  The Parents Television Council criticized the network for including adult-oriented content in a show it markets towards teens in the 8 p.m. time slot.

Should networks be responsible for producing family-friendly entertainment for kids during the earlier hours? What is the responsibility of parents to monitor television use? How do you determine what is appropriate content for your kids to watch and what isn't? Tell us in the comments.
