Pedestrian Killed in Crash on Richmond Highway: Police
Police say victim in fatal pedestrian crash Saturday night on Richmond Highway was from New York.
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A 69 year-old man from New York was killed Saturday night after he was hit by a car on Richmond Highway, police announced Monday afternoon.
Officers responded to the report of a pedestrian that was struck near the intersection of Richmond Highway and Belfield Road on Saturday shortly after 7:30 p.m., police said. Officers located the scene and summoned detectives from the Crash Reconstruction Unit.
The initial investigation determined that the man who was killed was attempting to cross Richmond Highway, not within a crosswalk, when he was struck by a 2015 Hyundai Sonata traveling northbound.

The 35-year-old female driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was subsequently transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The pedestrian, Eugene Michael Kotlarchuk, of Forest Hills, N.Y., was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Alcohol is not considered a factor in this crash, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
