Photos: Belle View Safeway Celebrates Grand Opening

Invited guests received a sneak preview Thursday night of the renovated Belle View grocery store at the Safeway Spring Social event. 

The gathering celebrated the grand re-opening of the store, which was closed for the past six months for renovations.

Guests sampled some of Virginia's best beers and wines, and enjoyed hors d'oeuvres including some of Safeway’s best Consumer Brands products. Special guest Chef Huda, a recent contestant on ABC’s The Taste, served some of her specialty dishes and Veggy Art’s James Parker created art from produce.

Celene Dutzman grew up in the Belle View area. She drove four hours from her home in Pennsylvania to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Belle View Safeway.

"It's fantastic," Dutzman said of the store. "I can't believe how big it is. It's going to be more convenient than Giant is."

Safeway wine steward Roy Koons attended the grand re-opening in Belle View to serve wine from Rapidan River.

"It's an inviting place to come shop," Koons said of the Belle View location.

The Belle View Safeway re-opens Friday at 8 a.m.
