Photos: St. Louis School Students Host Annual Wax Museum
Students shared their knowledge of historical figures at the fourth annual wax museum.
Weird Al, Neil Armstrong, George Washington, Mia Hamm, and other modern and historical figures made special appearances Tuesday at the St. Louis School Wax Museum.
Fifth grade students portrayed actors, singers, athletes, presidents, and other historical and modern figures. Students had approximately two months to prepare for the event, which involved reading a biography about their chosen subject and filling out an outline survey with talking points about their person, said fifth grade teacher Meaghan Leslie.
“They could choose anyone in the world,” Leslie said. “As long as there’s a biography of the person, they could do it.”

On Tuesday, students dressed as "their" person and shared their presentation with classmates. Students proceeded to the gym where they placed stickers on their shoulders, waiting for others to stop by and press their “buttons” Once their buttons are pushed, students presented their project. They went through the presentation each time that their button was pressed, thus reinforcing the concepts learned from the biography while also educating the community about an important figure, Leslie explained.
Forty-six students participated in this year’s Wax Museum. All of the participants and visiting students enjoyed the Wax Museum and learned from it, Leslie said.

“There are a lot of connections they make with what they learn, and that’s my favorite part,” Leslie said.
