Photos: 'The Nutcracker' Dress Rehearsal at West Potomac

Students from the Alexandria area participate in community performance.

The auditorium at West Potomac High School was abuzz with activity Sunday as dancers rehearsed for the upcoming performance of The Nutcracker.

Dozens of boys and girls of all ages will take the stage Nov. 29 for the first performance of this year's production. This year is the fourth year that West Potomac Academy and Alexandria Community Dance have co-produced The Nutcracker.

"It's truly a community effort," said choreographer Gennifer DiFilippo. "Some of the kids are just here because they want to be in The Nutcracker, and they don't have to drive to DC to be in it."
