The Washington-based nonprofit organization gave 1,200 age-appropriate books to the school, according to Steve Hersey, the group's founder and president.
"The books are being displayed in the auditorium, and teachers will take as many books as they would like for their individual classrooms, as well as books they would like to give to their students as prizes, incentives or however they would like," Hersey said in a press release.
Books for America provides books to adult and youth literacy programs, youth centers, transitional homeless shelters, hospitals, inner-city and rural schools, military bases, assisted living communities for seniors, veterans hospitals, women's shelters, hospices, and other such organizations.
The organization relies on books donated by individuals or organizations, as well as community book drives, for its programs. To learn more, visit Books for America.
