Resident Sustains Minor Injuries in Thursday Night House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue says a resident was displaced after an accidental fire that did nearly $100,000 damage.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A local resident sustained minor injuries Thursday night after an accidental fire at their home on Oak Drive, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

Firefighters responded to a call at about 8:14 p.m., Thursday night, for a report of a house fire in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. The single family home is located at 6608 Oak Drive (see map below).

When they arrived, firefighters found smoke and fire coming from the house, according to the fire department. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and quickly extinguished the fire. There were no firefighter injuries. A civilian sustained minor injuries, the fire department said.

One occupant has been displaced. Red Cross assistance is being provided. Damage is estimated at approximately $93,750.

Fire investigators determined that the fire was accidental. The fire was caused by an electrical event involving an electrical outlet above stove-top burners.
