Teen Shot Overnight in Groveton Area: Police

Teenager is in serious but stable condition after being shot overnight in the Groveton area of Fairfax County, police said.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A teen boy was shot overnight in the Groveton area, Fairfax County Police reported Sunday morning. Police say has been hospitalized and is in serious but stable condition.

Police were called at around 1 a.m. Sunday for a shooting in the 6600 block of The Parkway, a road in the Groveton area (see map below). When officers arrived, they found a teenage boy who had been shot, police said. The teen was taken to the hospital.

Police say that detectives believe this is not a random incident and that there is no threat to the community. Detectives are currently conducting interviews, canvassing the neighborhood and gathering information. Crime scene technicians are processing the scene. Additional information will be released as the investigation continues.
