Leesburg Woman Arrested After Threatening 10-Month-Old Baby, Deputy with Razor Blade

A Leesburg woman wanted for a probation violation was arrested Thursday after threatening her daughter and a deputy with a razor blade.

A Leesburg woman was taken into custody Thursday after threatening to hurt her 10-month-old child and a deputy with a razor blade.

Officials said the incident began Thursday, Sept. 4 around 9:17 a.m. when deputies arrived at her residence on Loudoun Orchard Road in Leesburg to serve a warrant for her arrest on a probation violation.

Rachel L. Jones, 32, of Leesburg, reportedly ignored the deputy’s commands and grabbed her 10-month-old child, threatening to harm her with a razor blade. Jones also made threats to injure the deputy with the razor blade as she threatened to jump from a second story window.

The deputy and a family member reportedly grabbed the baby from Jones before she jumped from the window and fled the scene. As she attempted to flee the area, Jones was located by additional deputies and a K9 unit. After threatening another deputy with a razor blade, Jones was taken into custody and transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment of her injuries, including a self-inflicted razor blade injury.

Jones was later released from the hospital and taken into custody.

Jones is charged with reckless endangerment of a child, two counts of assault on law enforcement, two counts of resisting arrest, and two counts of simple assault. She is currently being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.

Jones was previously arrested in May 2003 for possession of marijuana; July 2003 for possession with intent to distribute heroin; and November 2003 for possession of cocaine, according to Loudoun County Circuit Court records.
