The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch Thursday for several counties in the region, including Loudoun.
The watch remains in effect through 10 p.m.
Low pressure and a cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms to the area late this afternoon, NWS says, some of them "capable of producing damaging wind gusts."
Heavy rain fall, along with possible large hail, could create flash flooding in some areas.
