
Gunston Hall will be the setting as 30 naturalization candidates raise their right hands and become new American citizens on Saturday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m.
In honor of Memorial Day, several of the participants currently serve in the United States Armed Forces. Speakers will include Sarah Taylor, District Director for the Washington District Office of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services; Wylie Raab, First Regent of Gunston Hall; David Mercer, a Principal of the Mercer-Trigiani law firm in Alexandria, VA and Community Activist; and Linda T. “Toddy” Puller, Virginia State Senator.
The Color Guard of the U.S. Sea Cadet Corps, Alexandria Division, will lead the procession to the outdoor stage located in front of Gunston Hall, and ten members of the MV Brass will play America the Beautiful, marches and classic American music to enhance the day’s events. Refreshments will be served to all attendees following the ceremony, which is sponsored by The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America, District of Columbia Society. Admission will be free until 1:00 p.m., with limited seating available to the general public.
