Apartment Fire Quickly Controlled

Fairfax County firefighters were called to The Woods of Fairfax apartments yesterday at just after 8 p.m.

Four trucks arrived at 9207 Heather Ridge Court and found a fire in the basement storage area, which had been mostly put out by the internal sprinkler system. Firefighters quickly extinguished what remained. Residents of the building were without water and electricity for a time, but both utilities were expected to be restored in short order.

There were no injuries or signifcant damage to property.

Preliminary indication are that the fire was accidental, though an official investigation was ongoing.
