A brush fire that broke out this afternoon in a wooded area a few hundred yards off Richmond Highway in Lorton between the Woodside Apartments and Birch Crest Way was safely extinguished without incident by Fairfax County Firefighters.
According to Engine Company Captain Anthony Jackson personnel arrived on the scene at 1:29 p.m. and found a small fire that was quickly spreading due to high winds. The area affected eventually covered 2.5-3 acres. There was no injuries to firefighters or damage to property.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
