Lorton Market To Celebrate Farmers Market Week
Lorton and other park authority-run farmers markets will participate in National Farmers Market Week from Aug. 7 to 13.
LORTON, VA — The Lorton Farmers Market will be part of National Farmers Market Week, which runs from Aug. 7 to 13.
The National Farmers Market Week activities will be held at the Lorton Farmers Market on Sunday, Aug. 7. Plans will include a Carnatic performance by local students from noon to 1 p.m., a cooking demonstration by the Virginia Cooperative Extension, quiz wheel and prizes, and fun and educational activities for families.
National Farmers Market Week celebrates the contributions of farmers markets in communities and support for local farmers. The Fairfax County Park Authority runs 10 seasonal farmers markets in Fairfax County. Vendors come from a 125-mile radius of Fairfax County and may only sell what they raise on farms or make from scratch.

The Lorton Farmers Market is located in the parking lot of the VRE Station at 8994 Potomac Bend in Lorton. It is held Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from May 1 to Nov. 20.
Other National Farmers Market Week activities will take place at the Oak Marr, Wakefield and McCutcheon/Mount Vernon Farmers Markets on Aug. 10, Annandale and Herndon Farmers Markets on Aug. 11, McLean and Kingstowne Farmers Markets on Aug. 12, and Burke and Reston Farmers Markets on Aug. 13.
