Lorton Station Elementary Students Continue Tradition of Community Service
Youngsters make helping their neighbors cool

The final tally is in. Students collected an amazing 2,512 pounds of food, which is more than double last year's impressive total of 1,247 pounds.

The students at Lorton Station Elementary School have once again stepped up to help their community.
After collecting more than 1,200 pounds of food last year this year the students are looking to top themselves. While the final weight total is still being tallied,what is known for sure is that 2,286 items were collected in just two weeks.

Mrs. Giovinazo's fifth-grade class won themselves a popcorn party by bringing in 248 items, tops in the upper elementary classes. Mrs. Hanscom's and Mr. Murphy's classes were close behind with 218 and 211 respectively.
Mrs. Boyd's kindergarten class had the most for primary grades, bringing in 102 items.
