Workhouse Hosts Governor McDonnell
On hand with other local dignitaries to break ground on Phase II of restoration.
Governor Bob McDonnell visited the Workhouse Arts Center yesterday to commemorate Phase II of the former prison site's re-birth. Seven buildings are part of Phase II, the most prominent of which are the Event Center, Theater and Kid Zone.
When completed in the Fall of 2011, the Event Center will host performances, weddings, reunions, holiday parties, galas, fundraisers, corporate events and conferences. The 23,000 square foot building will have seating for 600.
The Theater will be a 12,000 square foot live performance venue featuring theatre, dance and music.
