Here are the top three stories in Lorton today:

  1. Linda Sinrod, an 82-year-old Lorton resident, has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest female hockey player. Sinrod was a former college figure skater who helped found the first women's ice hockey team in the Washington, DC area when she was in her late 30s. After playing for 10 years, she took a break until the age of 67 and continues to play to this day. Sinrod now trains twice a week with weights and bikes three times per week to keep her skills up. (New York Post)
  2. The Fairfax County Farmers Markets are seeking musicians to perform at its 10 local markets throughout the county in 2023. The markets, open from April to December every year, are inviting musicians and singers to apply online through the Music at Market website. Interested artists can apply anytime throughout the market season to perform at these popular community events, held on Wednesdays through Sundays at various locations across Fairfax County. (Patch)
  3. Calling all runners: the Marine Corps 17.75K is scheduled for 7 a.m. this Saturday, Mar. 25 at Prince William Forest Park, less than a half hour outside of Lorton.
