MANASSAS, VA — Four people were taken to a burn center from a Manassas house fire Thursday morning, according to the City of Manassas Fire and Rescue Department.

Firefighters had responded around 5:22 a.m. to a single-family home in the 8600 block of Weems Road. Units found the home with fire showing from the first and second floors. Multiple burn patients had self-evacuated through second-floor windows. Five people were home at the time of the fire.

Four of the five residents went to the burn center. The fire department does not know the current conditions of the residents.

The fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the blaze. Firefighters did not see smoke detectors in the home when the fire occurred. The fire department went around the neighborhood to install smoke alarms after the fire.

A GoFundMe has been created to support the family after the fire. Organizer Erica Calvillo identified the family as her brother and his family. She said her brother and his wife are in the ICU, and their younger son is in the trauma center. The oldest son escaped with no injuries, and their daughter has minor injuries. The fundraiser will help the family with medical expenses and housing.
