Driver ID'ed In Fatal Manassas Crash, Speeding A Factor: Police

The speeding driver killed in a Dec. 21 one-vehicle crash near Lake Jackson Drive and Blandsford Drive in Manassas​ was identified Monday.

MANASSAS, VA — The speeding driver killed in a Dec. 21 single-vehicle crash near Lake Jackson Drive and Blandsford Drive in Manassas was identified Monday as Ian Rambert, 21, of Manassas.

Prince William County Police said Rambert was the sole occupant of the 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI, which was traveling more than double the posted 35 mph speed limit just before the crash.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 11:51 p.m. when Rambert's vehicle was heading north on Lake Jackson Drive and veered in both directions before leaving the roadway. It continued into a field and struck a utility pole, flipping over several times and catching fire.

Rambert, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
