Police: DUI Suspect Had Children in Vehicle She Wrecked

The woman faces felony child abuse and driving under the influence charges, Prince William County Police said.

A Dumfries woman is accused of driving under the influence with her two small children in the car, then crashing the car into a tree, Prince William Police said this week.
The 35-year-old Dumfries woman's name is being withheld to protect the identities of the children in the case.  She is charged with felony child abuse and driving under the influence, police reports show.

It happened Friday at 8:12 p.m. on the 9400 block of Brentsville Road in the Manassas area where the suspect crashed her car into a tree.

Police responded and found a 3-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl in the car and determined the suspect was under the influence when she hit the tree.  The condition of the two children wasn't immediately clear.

The suspect is expected to appear in court on Oct. 24. Bond information wasn't available.
