
Prince William County police are investigating an alleged shooting that was reported at the Super 8 Motel in Manassas on Aug. 3.
A 24-year-old Manassas man told police that he was in a motel room at 7249 New Market Ct. in Manassas when someone knocked at the door, said Prince William County police public information officer Jonathan Perok.
"Upon answering, the victim recognized a known male acquaintance at the door. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money," said Perok in a release. During the encounter, the suspect struck the victim in the head with the gun which caused it to go off, striking the victim in the shoulder."

Perok said the suspect took the victim’s wallet and undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the area.
The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Perok said. This incident does not appear to be random and an investigation continues.
