Registration Open for George Mason's Wine Class
"Exploring the Business of Wine," a four-week course taught at George Mason's Prince William Campus, is now open to the public.

George Mason University’s Prince William Campus in Manassas is offering a four-week course just for wine lovers.
“ Exploring the Business of Wine,” taught by 25-year wine industry veteran Jeff Spencer, is a non-credit course that meets 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Monday from Sept. 22 to Oct. 13.
Students will learn about the following topics: The history of wine, grape varietals, wine regions, viticulture, labeling and tasting, wine industry employment opportunities, Virginia wines, recognized industry credentials, future directions of the industry, and starting your own winery.

The class also includes a field trip to a special tasting, tour and orientation at Centerville’s The Winery at Bull Run, owned by George Mason alumnus Jon Hickox.
The course costs $495, but those who register by Aug. 22 will receive a special early-bird rate. Winery employees are eligible for a 10 percent discount.

The class is open to everyone, though those under 21 will not be able to participate in the tasting.
