Sexual Assault In Vehicle Leads To Charges In Manassas Area

Police say an acquaintance sexually and physically assaulted a woman in a vehicle in the area of Centreville Road.

MANASSAS, VA — Prince William County Police say a sexual assault in a car led to an arrest in the Manassas area Wednesday.

The assault happened around 9:59 p.m. Wednesday in the 7600 block of Centreville Road. Police say a 24-year-old woman was in an acquaintance's vehicle when he sexually assaulted her. When the victim tried to escape the vehicle, the suspect locked the doors and physically assaulted her.

The victim was ultimately able to call police, who located the vehicle and separated the suspect and victim. Police believe the suspect was intoxicated. The victim was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, Brayan Anthony Acevedo, 28, of Hyattsville, Maryland, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, abduction, sexual battery and DUI. He is being held without bond, and a court date is pending.
