Should September 11, Not Labor Day, Be a Federal Holiday?

Do you know the the meaning of Labor Day, or Columbus Day for that matter? Should these two late summer/autumn holidays get the boot in favor of a more solemn occasion? 

Or, should we close schools, banks and businesses and observe all three?

Some have called to make every September 11 a federal holiday or a national day of mourning.
