Cougars Bound for Championship Game

The Manassas Park Cougar boys soccer team defeated Nelson County High School in a 5-1 regional semifinal game played Wednesday night.

The Manassas Park Cougar boys soccer team defeated Nelson County High School   in a 5-1 regional semifinal game played Wednesday night, Manassas Park High School athletics director Michael Peters said.

 The Cougars now advance to the Region B Championship game which is slated to be played on Friday. 

That game will be a rematch with the George Mason High School Mustangs who defeated Buckingham County High School 7-0 in their own semifinal match.

Wednesday's win also advances the Cougar team to the Virginia Group A State Soccer Tournament scheduled for Tuesday, June 7.

Region B Championship Game – Manassas Park vs. George Mason High School

  • Friday, June 3
  • Time: 5 p.m.
  • Location: George Mason High School, Falls Church
  •  Admission: $5

Both teams advance to the State quarterfinals on June 7.

Virginia State Quarterfinal Game

  •  Tuesday, June 7
  • Time: To be determined
  • Location – Depends on outcome of Regional Championship game
  • Winner will host Region A Runner-up
  • Loser will travel to the Region A Champion
