Fill The Boot Campaign Starts This Week in Manassas Park
Manassas Park firefighters will be at the intersection of Manassas Drive and Centreville Road raising money for Muscular Dystrophy.

When they aren’t fighting blazes and saving lives, local firefighters and EMS personnel will be posted at Manassas Park’s busiest intersection this week raising money for a good cause.
Monday marked the beginning of the Fill The Boot Campaign, an annual fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the families it serves.
Firefighters will be at the intersection of Manassas Drive and Centreville Road in Manassas Park collecting money in their fire boots from motorists stopped at red lights.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association has partnered with firefighters around the country for the past 58 years and has raised more than $450 million since 1954, according to a Manassas Park City Council proclamation recognizing the campaign.
Manassas Park Local 2757 of the International Association of Firefighters will conduct the fundraiser with a goal of raising $25,000 for the cause this year.

Last year, they raised more than $19,000, according to city records.
Officials said 100 percent of donations go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association which uses the money to aid in the fight against 43 neuromuscular diseases and send children to camp and educate the public about the disease.
The campaign will conclude Saturday.
