Free Summer Movie Series Premieres This Month in Manassas Park

See your favorite flicks under the stars—for free in Manassas Park.

Residents can watch their favorite flicks in a very unique way this summer in Manassas Park.

 The will began its outdoor summer movie series on July 23 with a showing of the movie, How to Train Your Dragon at .

 Movie goers can bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, food and even their pets; lay back under the stairs and watch the movie on the city’s large outdoor projector screen, said Tony Thomas, the department’s recreation services supervisor.

 The summer movie series in Manassas Park is nothing new, but a program the city has had for several years, he said.

 “It’s just a way to bring the community together,” Thomas said.

 The movies were selected through an online poll that gave voters a choice of 20 movies—four each week.

 The movies that received the most votes were selected, he said.

 Movies will be shown in Costello Park and in on an alternating basis.

A total of four movies will be shown, all with a start time of 7:45 p.m.

 How to Train Your Dragon: July 23 Costello Park

 Tron: Aug. 6 Signal Hill Park

 Megamind: Aug. 20 Costello

 Gnomeo and Juliet: Sept. 10.
