Mathis Avenue to Close, Take Out Tuesdays and African-American Heritage Festival

1 Sewer work on Mathis Avenue is scheduled to begin Tuesday evening in Manassas Park. The avenue will be closed as a result of the work. Read more here.

3.Work in Gainesville or go there to shop? You might want to attend an important meeting on Wednesday regarding the Virginia Department of Transportation’s plans to move Route 29 traffic onto the new bridge extending over the train tracks.  The meeting is from 6 to 8 p.m. at the storefront located between the Sports Authority and Golfsmith in the Gateway shopping center at 5095 Wellington Rd. Learn more about the project  here.   There was a minor crash involving a car and train in that area on Friday. No major injuries were reported.

4. The 23rd annual Manassas African-American Heritage Festival takes place on Saturday at Grace E. Metz Middle School at 9950 Wellington Rd. in Manassas.
