Local Students Place in Weekend Talent Show

The Manassas Park nonprofit group, Yes You Can! Young Lady, Young Man held its annual talent show Saturday in Manassas.

An Osbourn Park High School student took first place in the Yes You Can! Young Lady-Young Man talent show at Mayfield Intermediate School in Manassas Saturday. 

 Breanna Walker, a 12 grader at Osbourn Park High, won first place for her original poetry essay, Nina Maxberry, executive director of Yes You Can! said Sunday.

Janeese Jefferson of Manassas Park Middle School won second place for her praise dance.

 Third place was hard fought and ended in a tie between contestants.

 Elijah Ruehl, an 11th grade honor student at Stonewall Jackson High School won for his trumpet solo.

 Jonathan Tibbs, a 10-year-old fourth grader at Baldwin Elementary, won for his acclaimed imitation of the late pop performer, Michael Jackson, Maxberry said.

The first-place winner took home $200, while the second place winner took home $100. Third place snagged $50.

Yes You Can! Young Lady-Young Man, is an award-winning nonprofit that supports under-served youth between the ages of 13 - 18.  Proceeds  from the talent show will go toward funding the scholarship program for high school seniors in the Manassas area.
