Manassas Drive Motorcycle Crash Claims One Life Sunday

Police said a man lost control of his motorcycle and hit a parked vehicle Sunday evening.

A man died Sunday evening from injuries he sustained when the motorcycle he was riding hit a parked vehicle, according to Manassas Park Police Assistant Chief D.C. Goodwin said.

The man was riding on Manassas Drive near Evans Street when the accident happened. Manassas Park residents Patricia and Donald Williams said they saw the accident at about 8 p.m. Sunday.

The couple said the man, who was their cousin, was headed west on Manassas Drive and was almost home when the incident happened.

Donald Williams said he waved to his cousin just before he lost control. The couple said they are saddened by the loss and were on the scene with emergency officials arrived. 

Goodwin said more information will be released once the investigation is complete and the proper notifications are made.

In the hours after the crash, neighbors, friends and relatives of the deceased placed candles at the scene of his death. 

Orange markings—signs of police investigation and reconstruction of the incident—could be seen clearly on the asphalt of Manassas Drive even after sunset.
