Updated: Manassas Drive Shut Down After Car Crashes Into Utility Pole
A few Manassas Park residents without power.
The main artery of Manassas Park shut down after the driver of a vehicle crashed into a utility pole Thursday afternoon, Manassas Park Fire Chief Todd Lupton said.
The crash happened at about 4 p.m. near Manassas Drive and Mathis Avenue when the car struck the utility pole, causing power outages in the area.
One person was airlifted from the crash scene to a local hospital, Lupton said.

Neighbors said that person is a young boy. He was taken to Parkside School on Mathis Avenue and from there, taken by helicopter for treatment.
The Northern Virgina Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) website reported some 208 power outages in Manassas Park about an hour after the crash, but said more than 96 percent of its 5,224 customers have power.

The company said it expects all power to be restored by 7:30 p.m.
Vehicles traveling West on Manassas Drive were not allowed further than Mathis Avenue. Cars who approached the scene from the West had to make a left turn on Evans Court.
The scene is still being investigated.
Manassas Park Firefighters are on scene and are being assisted by Manassas Park Police and Prince William County firefighters.
