Manassas Park Police are warning residents about a possible telephone scam after almost $300 was stolen from a Manassas Park man.

Manassas Park Police are warning residents about a possible telephone scam after almost $300 was stolen from a Manassas Park man.
It happened Feb. 3 on the 9400 block of Lanae Lane when the victim received a phone call from someone who said he’d won a cash prize, a watch and other gifts, according to a police report.
The caller said the victim’s debit card number was needed so the funds could be transferred into the victim's account.

The victim gave the caller his banking information and later discovered $299 was withdrawn from his account without his permission, according to police reports.
Investigators said the transaction was recorded under the name “Pre-Auth-One Destinations, Inc. Miami Fl, US.”

No arrests have been made in connection with the theft.
The victim cancelled his debit card is now trying to recover the funds lost.
