Manassas Woman Charged With Impersonating Police Officer
Suspect said she was an officer for another jurisdiction, when she'd actually been fired three years ago.

A Manassas woman was arrested after she told police she,too, works as an officer when she really didn't, Manassas Park Police reports show.
Maribel Velez,34, of King Carter St. is charged with impersonating a police officer.
It happened early Friday morning near Breeden and Portner Avenues when police noticed a woman driving erratically in her 2002 Nissan.

The suspect told police she was a federal police officer and that she was very tired.
She gave the officer a business card and said her credentials were at home.

Parts of her story didn't make sense, so police decided to check and call the woman's employer.
It turns out the woman had been fired from the agency three years ago, according to police reports.
Velez is scheduled to have a hearing on the charges on Jan. 12.
