Nat'l Bike To School Day: Where is the Planned Euclid Sidewalk to Manassas Park Middle?
It's National Bike to School Day. What's the status of an approved plan to build a sidewalk along Euclid Avenue from Blooms Quarry Road to Manassas Park Middle School.

It's National Bike to School Day, but it's unlikely students will be riding to Manassas Park Middle or High Schools, and it isn't because of the rainy weather.

According to VDOT data,the project has a completion date of June 2015, said Robert Williams, the Safe Routes to School Coordinator for VDOT.

The program is locally administered by Manassas Park, so that date may have changed, Williams added.
The Manassas Park point of contact for the project couldn't immediately be reached on Tuesday for comment.

Right now, the city and VDOT do have a design agreement in place for the project, Williams added.
The purpose of Safe Routes to School is to provide a safe and easily accessible way for children to walk and bike to schools.
For more than two years, Manassas Park city and school officials have been working to get the sidewalk because students who walk to and from school have to teeter along the rocky and unpaved sides of Euclid Avenue where they can easily be struck by a passing vehicle.
More than 83 schools in Virginia are participating in National Bike to School Day, but no Manassas Park, Manassas or Prince William County schools are included. in that number.
