Scouting For Food Expedition Planned for Cub, Boy Scouts Saturday.
On Saturday, both Cub Scout Pack 1372 and Boy Scout Troop 1372 will walk the streets of Manassas Park handing out Scouting for Food bags to as many houses as possible.
Cub Scout Pack 1372 and Boy Scout Troop 1372 will walk the streets of Manassas Park Saturday in an effort to help area families in need of food this winter.
The young men will visit as many homes as possible and hand out Scouting for Food bags to residents to collect non-perishable food items, Jason Elliott, one of Pack 1372's den leaders, said.
The easily-identifiable bags contain instructions for helping people in need.

One week later, on Nov. 12, the scouts will be back in the community collecting any food that homeowners leave out. The collected food goes to local food pantries and SERVE (Securing Emergency Resources through Volunteer Efforts) a 60-bed emergency shelter for families and the largest food bank in Prince William County.
"The timing is great as we do this just before the holidays, when need for food is always great," Elliott said. "This is one of the ways Scouts help those around us in the community."

Scouting for Food is an annual scouting tradition of community service. The first two weekends of November, Scouts across America pull together to collect non-perishable food items for those in need in their local communities.
Pack 1372 was established in 2010 and is a prominent pack in the Bull Run district and Prince William County. The Cub Scouts are comprised of students in the first, second, third, fourth and fifth grades.
