MD Man Linked To Multiple Attempted Burglaries In McLean: Police

Investigators have linked a 52-year-old man to multiple burglaries in McLean and the Tysons area, according to police.

MCLEAN, VA — Investigators have linked a Maryland man arrested in Tysons on Tuesday to multiple attempted burglaries in the McLean earlier this month, according to authorities.

Officers responded just after 10:30 p.m., on Tuesday to investigate a trespassing report in the 1900 block of Horse Shoe Drive in Tysons, according to polcie. The victim told investigators that an unknown man who'd been in her backyard had run off when her flood light was activated.

Searching the area, officers spotted a man matching the description of the suspect on board a nearby bus. When the bus stopped and the suspect existed, police arrested the man, who was identified as 52-year-old Brad Edmonds of Maryland, according to the report.

Investigators were able to link Edmonds to an attempted burglary in the 600 block of Chain Bridge Road in McLean, which was reported on Dec. 5, according to police. In that case, home surveillance footage from four days earlier, showed a man stealing a bag from a vehicle that was parked in the victim's garage. He also attempted to enter the victim's home.

Edmonds was also linked to an additional attempted burglary that took place Dec. 5 in the 1200 block of Crest Lane in McLean, police say.

After being taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, Edmonds was charged with two counts of attempted burglary, two counts of wearing a mask in public, unlawful entry into vehicle, possession of burglarious tools, petit larceny, and trespassing, according to police. He was then held without bond.

Edmonds was arraigned Friday morning in Fairfax County General District Court and a preliminary hearing was set for 2 p.m. on March 2, 2026, according to court documents.

The possession of burglarious tools and attempted burglary charges are Class 5 felonies. If convicted on either of these charges, Edmonds faces a potential sentence of one to 10 years in prison or 12 months in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500, under the Virginia Code.

In addition, each of the wearing a mask in public charges are considered Class 6 felonies in Virginia and carry a possible prison sentence of one year to five years or up to 12 months in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500.
