🌱 Parking Garage Cameras Updated + Mayor Vows To Fight Back On Crime

Here are the top three stories in Norfolk today:

  1. In an effort to crackdown on crime, Norfolk city leaders are working to fix all of the surveillance cameras in downtown parking garages. Outdated technology is being replaced and enhancements added. The goal of the updated technology is to keep people safe. (News 3 WTKR Norfolk)
  2. Norfolk Mayor Kenny Alexander vowed to use all of his resources to fight back against the recent crime wave in the city. He outlined several short-term solutions including a reduction in legal guns through buyback programs, reviewing business licenses to ensure proper operation and safety, updating cameras, and increasing police presence. The Mayor also proposed a five percent salary increase for all city employees. (The Virginian-Pilot)
  3. The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program out of Norfolk is putting nursing students on a fast track to getting their degrees. The program, which takes 16 months to complete, is designed for individuals who have prerequisites from college or time in the military. A traditional nursing degree, without prerequisites, generally takes up to four years to complete. (13newsnow.com WVEC)
