Oakton High's boys lacrosse team fell to crosstown rival James Madison High on Saturday after reliquishing their first-half lead to lose 14-13.
The Cougars had an 11-8 lead at halftime, but the Warhawks came back with timely shooting, an invigorated defense and strong goaltending to win by one goal. The Saturday night game between Oakton and Madison was an end-to-end thriller with both teams scoring a number of transition goals.
Pat Goulding and Sean Schweiker led the Cougars with three goals each, with Schweiker also contributing four assists. Jack Harris (2), Mike Gillooly (2), Evan Lalande (1), Cory Harris (1) and Stephen Lambrides (1) also scored for the Cougars.

The loss came a day after a 14-8 loss to Lake Norman High (N.C.) on Friday night at Madison High. The Cougars opened the season with a loss to Landon.
The Cougars will travel to Bishop O'Connell on March 28 for a 4 p.m. game. Their home-opener is April 11 against Yorktown, eight games into the regular season.
